Update on Boat Storage Facility...

Hammock Harbor has applied for a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers to build floating docks in the ICW, a boat basin, a huge warehouse and a restaurant, among other things. The comment period ends October 3rd.

The project calls for 3,019 square feet of floating dock which will extend out into the Intracoastal by 64 feet. It also calls for dredging 0.33 acre in the water and 0.32 acre in the land area to create a boat basin. A warehouse to store 240 boats will be built with outdoor forklifts and above-ground fuel storage.

Factors that the Army Corps will consider when deciding to issue a permit include: conservation, esthetics, general environmental concerns, wetlands, fish and wildlife values, flood hazards, land use, navigation, water quality, and safety.
