At 19 years old, Caleb Hathaway has lived his entire life in Flagler County. He is currently a student at the University of North Florida, majoring in Environmental Science. He has written two historical-fiction novels centered on Florida’s rich history and holds a deep appreciation for the local heritage and environment. His goal is to learn, educate, and protect as much of it as possible. His first novel, The Gunrunners Gambit, is an action/drama that takes place at the outbreak of the Second Seminole War in 1836. His second, The Soil of Sugar—an epic drama set in the years before the Second Seminole War— follows a family as they carve out success in the untamed Florida wilderness. In addition beyond writing, Caleb enjoys fishing and spending time outdoors, where he continues to find inspiration for both his studies and his stories.
